Firefighter Owned Wildfire Risk Reduction Company
Our Mission
To reduce the frequency of catastrophic wildfires in California by empowering property owners to take the steps necessary to reduce their individual risks from the threats presented by wildfire.
Historical Perspective
California wildfires have been become more common and increasingly larger throughout the State over the last 15 years. Experts have pointed fingers in just about every direction, but in general, the truth is the vegetation (both live and dead) has simply become too dense.

This extremely dense vegetation in California has likely occurred due to decades of successful fire suppression throughout the State. Historically, fires were “managed” and allowed to burn much of the young and unhealthy vegetation effectively thinning it out naturally, and in much of the rest of the country this stills happens. These fires tend to burn at a much lower intensity because the fuel isn't typically as dense. Though this does not necessarily reduce the total number of fires, it does help keep the frequency of extremely large catastrophic fires to much lower numbers.
What Now
Fewer large catastrophic fires would reduce the potential for unnecessary property damage and loss of life, but California is currently not at a point where “managing” fires, whether naturally occurring or not, would be looked upon favorably by the general public.

A solution that has been more accepted lies in managing the land using a combination of mechanical fuel reduction and the use of prescribed fire to reduce the extremely dense vegetation and help restore the land to similar conditions common to the State in decades past. The caveat to this solution is that it is very expensive and the State and Federal Government are prioritizing the limited funds for areas they have identified as priorities. This leaves property owners with properties that are not considered a priority vulnerable, unless they are able to pay the large companies similar rates offered by the State, Federal Government, and large utility companies. To best serve vulnerable property owners, there needs to be a solution that can be achieved at a more reasonable price.

Risks vs. Benefits
Ultimately, any important decision should include some sort of risk vs benefit analysis, though when it comes to processing the threats faced by wildfire, many struggle to do this objectively due to fear, expense, and/or the overall enormity of the process itself. Despite "knowing better" this leads to many individuals doing nothing at all to reduce the risks they face from wildfire. The information provided below is meant to serve as a sort of "jumping off point" to assist individuals in the performance of their own risk vs benefits analysis.
Potential Risks of Doing Nothing
Continued Stress and Worrying - Without taking actions to reduce our individual risks prior to a wildfire event, we will inevitably spend a larger amount of time worrying about what would happen "if" the event were to occur. This is especially true if there is an event in our general area.
Loss of Physical Structures - For most property owners, the physical structures on their property are likely some of, if not the largest financial investment(s) they will ever make. To lose an investment(s) like this would likely be devastating, whether to their family or to their business.

Loss of irreplaceable items - Losing a physical structure, whether your business or personal residence is bad enough, but for many of us, it is the contents of those physical structures that carry the real value. Whether they are personal possessions, proprietary business information, or the people/animals who live or work there. No matter what "it" is, if we cannot replace it, once it is lost, it is gone forever.

Potential Benefits of Taking Action
Improvement in Individual Mindset- Just by taking the the initial steps to plan and address our individual risks faced by wildfire, we are actually reducing those risks by preparing our mind to process the enormity of the event before it happens. This pre-processing will help save time if or when the event actually occurs. That time could be the difference between losing a life or not, even without doing anything else.

Adequate Property Preparation - By preparing individual properties before the threats of wildfire are upon them, property owners can drastically reduce their individual risks associated with wildfire which could not only save them money (whether on fire insurance or the replacement of lost items,) but could make the difference between being injured/killed or not.

Piece of Mind - This tends to be a very satisfying thing for most of us. Knowing that we have taken action to plan for the event and to reduce the risks associated with it , will not only improve our outcome, but will likely make life less stressful in the process.
There are hundreds of thousands of individual property owners throughout the State that either have been or potentially will be directly affected by wildfire and still have not taken a single step towards reducing or managing their individual risks faced from the threats of wildfire. Unfortunately, this has been and will continue to be a very costly mistake unless individuals start to take action to protect themselves and their assets. Contact us for more information if you would like to start reducing your risks!
